Plan to increase Organ donors sign ups during fresher’s Week 2010
A few weeks ago, I read that what we need in the UK is more of the younger (fresher) people to sign up - their organs are in better condition and the numbers currently signing are small.
I thought that if people got together with say the NUS, the NHS etc. and the individual unions in about 50 campuses and organise to run stands at fresher’s fairs in autumn 2010 we could really boost the numbers - so without too much thought I registered this name domain and put this page up to act as a 1st step .
Since then I have found out that my bright idea has already been thought of by the good folk at NHS - see their web site , but they are keen for us to help.
Last Year they manged to get to about 17 campuses, I think that with we can really improve on that. I have already had lots of support for this idea and my next step is to make contact with the NUS - if anyone reads this and is interested in getting involved let me know at oliver@fresherdonors.org.

A donor shortage means that organs from the elderly, drug users, heavy smokers, and cancer patients are being used for transplant. Gerry Northam investigates .-
In the meantime if anyone thinks they could help .
